Frances grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and has been making art her whole life. She graduated from Auburn University in 2021 with a master's in special education. After college, she has stayed busy juggling teaching, coaching high school track and cross country, and painting when she can. Following her wedding in the fall of 2023, Frances moved to George, South Africa with her husband, Jovan. While they are based in George, she is constantly traveling across Africa and gaining inspiration from new forms of life and nature.
Most of her paintings are inspired by the organic lines that grow in nature. While her work often begins linear, she loves to create colorful abstract with spontaneous marks that is open for interpretation. She utilizes pastel, charcoal, acrylic ink, and oil sticks in her paintings and has been primarily guided by years of trial and error. Along with painting freely and learning through experimentation, Frances has trained under Laura Deems.
